George Danny “Dan” Smith, age 81 of Jamestown, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the Signature Healthcare of Fentress Co.

Graveside Military Honors and Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Fentress Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 137.

Dan was a veteran serving in the US Marine Corps. He was a Christian man and had a big heart. He was a member of the Pleasant View Church of the Nazarene. Dan had a great love of animals. He knew many people in Fentress County and loved to show his support for everyone. Dan volunteered his time to work with Meals on Wheels, Handfuls of the Harvest Kitchen and the Senior Center. He was a park ranger for the Big South Fork region and worked as a heavy equipment operator.
