Gerald Dean Deck, Sr., age 77, of Crossville, passed away May 5, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born May 4, 1944 in Crossville, the son of Charlie and Hazel Brown Deck. He worked many years as a carpenter and brick layer and was also a United States Army Veteran, 101st Airborne, having served our country during Vietnam. He is survived by his wife of over 53 years: Ann Deck; son: Gerald Deck Jr. (Allison) of Crossville; brother: Ricky Deck (Penny) of Crossville; sisters: Sara Lane and Mary Jane Buck (Robbie); sister-in-law: Betty Deck of Crossville; granddaughter: Jackie Kramer (Jeremy) of Kingsport; great-granddaughters: Olivia and Lyla Kramer; many nieces and nephews; his buddies that he’s had throughout the years and all his Army brothers who have stayed with him until his death. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Granville, Kyle, Claude, M.L. and Melvin Deck; and sisters: Wanda Deck and Polly Farmer. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 8, 2021 at 2 p.m. central at Hood Funeral Home in Crossville. The family receive friends the day of the service from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
