GETTING HOTTER

Post placeholder image

Skies are going to be fair to partly cloudy through Thursday and Friday with high temperatures 85 to 90 Thursday and 88 to 92 Friday. The chance of an afternoon thundershower for the next few days only 30%. Rain chances begin to go back up over the weekend, 40% Saturday 50% Sunday 60% Monday. The heat index will also be quite high for the next couple of days. Be sure to wear light-colored clothing, drink lots of water or decaffeinated beverages and don’t forget the sunscreen.

Lightning can be seen from a storm 100 miles away on a clear summer night. The old wives’ tale that a hot, humid summer night can generate lightning without a thunderstorm, called “heat lighting,” is exactly that–a meteorological myth. Heat lightning is just normal lightning from a thunderstorm too far away for the sounds of thunder to be transmitted.
