GUILTY PLEA ENTERED IN DEATH OF LOUDON COUNTY OFFICER

The man charged in the death of Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Chris Jenkins pleaded guilty today to vehicular homicide by intoxication.
Jenkins was killed after 43-year-old Christopher Savannah hit him as he was trying to remove a ladder from the roadway of I-75 in Loudon County in February 2022.
Savannah was driving a tractor-trailer that day. He was smoking marijuana before and while driving.
As part of his plea, Savannah will serve ten years in prison on the vehicular homicide charge.
The plea offer came at the request of Jenkins’ son, Clay Jenkins, a Loudon County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detective.
