HAWKINS COUNTY BUS DRIVER KILLED IN ACCIDENT
The Tennessee Highway Patrol and medics responded to a school bus accident this morning in Hawkins County.
Troopers say a pick-up truck hit the bus on State Route 70 at Willow Road around 7:30 a.m.
Hawkins County Schools said the crash involved Bus 109. Officials notified the parents of students who were on the bus.
According to a preliminary crash report, the 55-year-old bus driver died in the crash.
Two children were on the bus and were not hurt.
Troopers say an 18-year-old was driving a pick-up truck south on State Route 70 when it went into the northbound lane and crashed into the bus.
The highway patrol said the 18-year-old could face charges pending the outcome of the investigation.
The names of those involved were not initially released.
