Henry Robert “Bob” Eichenberger, age 88
Henry Robert “Bob” Eichenberger – dedicated husband, father of seven, and friend of many – passed away at home on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the age of 88. His beloved wife, Janet, was by his side.
Bob was born on December 26, 1933, in Darien, NY, to the late Henry and Marion Kelsey Eichenberger. He graduated from Wyoming Central School in 1953, and the University of New York at Morrisville in 1956. He retired from the Kennedy Space Center in 1997 where he was an instrumental Space Shuttle team member.
Bob loved all sports and was an active golfer for many years. He was also a lifetime member of The Loyal Order of the Moose. He met the love of his life, Janet, while bowling. They spent 48 years together working, enjoying retirement, golfing, birding, and gardening.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother, Ralph Eichenberger. He is survived by his wife, Janet; children William (Tiffany)
Eichenberger, Todd (Ella) Eichenberger, Kortney Eichenberger, Whitney (Marc) Eichenberger Ellis, Jeff Kelly, Linda (Cubby) Kelly Rhode, and Todd M. Kelly; his siblings Harry (the late Betty) Eichenberger of North Carolina, Martha (the late Joe) Weiland of New York, Mary (the late Joe) Opalenick of New York, Ethel (the late Merle) Case of Florida, David (Joyce) Eichenberger of New York; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Bob’s request was that everyone remember the good times. In his memory, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are being handled by Hood Funeral Home and Crematory in Crossville TN. There will be no services.
