HIGH-SPEED CHASE STARTING IN OLIVER SPRINGS ENDS IN OAK RIDGE WITH ARREST

CUMBERLAND COUNTY DEPUTIES INVOLVED IN HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT THURSDAY

A traffic stop in Oliver Springs yesterday turned into a high-speed pursuit that took the suspect and law enforcement all the way to Oak Ridge. Officers tried to pull over a white Honda Accord driven by 34-year-old Kevin D. Simpson for failure to maintain his lane of travel. Simpson pulled over long enough for a passenger to get out then sped off at a high rate of speed. The chase ended at the intersection of Outer and Pennsylvania Avenue in Oak Ridge when Simpson lost control and spun out. He faces numerous charges including reckless endangerment, possession of a legend drug and vandalism after reportedly striking a police cruiser.
