HIGH SPEED PURSUIT IN WAYNE COUNTY, KENTUCKY RESULTS IN ARRESTS

A vehicle pursuit in Wayne County, Kentucky resulted in two individuals being arrested on multiple charges. At approximately 12:40 a.m. December 13, 2020 Deputy James Barnett and Jerry Coffey attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation on North 2nd Street in the city limits of Monticello. The operator of the vehicle failed to stop after Deputy Barnett activated his emergency equipment. The pursuit continued through city streets then out Kentucky Highway East 92. At one point the operator struck the side of another deputy’s vehicle with a K-9 unit inside after temporary losing control with. The operator of the vehicle continued and stopped after traveling approximately 6 miles inside of McCreary County on Highway 92.
Deputy Barnett arrested 24-year-old Calvin Godsey of Monticello, Kentucky on a total of 31 criminal charges including receiving stolen property-auto (under $10,000.00), operating a motor vehicle under the influence-controlled substance, trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (less than 2 grams of methamphetamine), 8 counts of wanton endangerment-1st degree, 2 counts of assault-2nd degree, resisting arrest, 2 counts of criminal mischief-1st degree, 2 counts of criminal mischief-3rd degree, 4 counts of criminal littering, fleeing or evading police-1st degree (motor vehicle) and numerous traffic violations. Godsey was also arrested on two Wayne County Circuit Court warrants for probation violation on the underlying charges of assault-1st degree, assault-2nd degree, tampering with physical evidence, persistent felony offender-1st degree and for persistent felony offender-2nd degree.
Amanda Phillips, age 30, of Monticello, Kentucky was arrested for trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (less than 2 grams of methamphetamine), and 4 counts of criminal littering and for resisting arrest. Phillips was also arrested on a Kentucky Parole Board mandatory reentry supervision violation warrant for absconding parole supervision, use of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), use of a controlled substance (marijuana) and for failure to report to parole officer as directed.
Godsey and Phillips were taken to the Wayne County Detention Center.
Deputy Barnett is requesting anyone that was endangered by the pursuit on Kentucky Highway 92 to call him with their information. Deputy Barnett is looking for at least two other vehicle that were forced out of the roadway by the fleeing vehicle.
