HOME BURGLARIZED ON MOORE LANE

Yesterday at 7:42 p.m., Deputy Stephanie Pencka was dispatched to Moore Lane regarding a burglary report. He made contact with a woman who said her residence had been broken into sometime between Sunday and yesterday. She gave two possible suspects her landlord and the maintenance man.

She said her landlord lives in Florida but did not have any other contact information for him. She explained that her husband was an employee of the landlord as a maintenance man but was terminated on Friday last week. She said they have had ongoing issues since that date with getting forcefully evicted and the electricity turned off.

The electricity was shut off on Friday, causing them to leave the residence until the electricity was turned back on. She returned to their home on Sunday but the electricity was still off. When she arrived at the home yesterday, she noticed the front door had marks consistent with being pried open.

She entered the main bedroom to find her safe had been cut open and placed on the far wall, with several items missing from the safe. The missing items include birth certificates, the victim’s SSN card, their marriage certificate, and 2 rings.

More items had also been removed from the bathroom of the residence such as towels and a first aid kit. Various food items had been taken as well.

Deputy Pencka noticed there weren’t any marks on the carpet surrounding the safe to indicate the safe had been cut in that place. While looking around the home, Pencka saw a white powdery residue on the floor of the living room, near the handle of the safe.

Photographs were taken of the safe in the bedroom, the carpet in the living room (where the safe was broken into), as well as the bathroom.

No contact has been made at the time of this report with her husband who is currently incarcerated in Sequatchie
County, the landlord, or the maintenance man. Pencka asked the victim to contact the Sheriff’s Department if she finds the
items or if she is contacted by anyone claiming to have her belongings.
