Imy Jean Vanwinkle, 96
We celebrate the vibrant life of our Imy Jean Vanwinkle, who passed away at the age of 96. She passed peacefully with her daughter by her side on June 22, 2026. She was born June 5, 1930, to Freeman and Minverva Clark Daugherty.
Imy lived her life with joy, kindness, and a free spirit that brightened every room she entered. Known for her warm heart and sweet smile, she never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. Whether sharing a conversation, lending a helping hand, or offering words of kindness, she touched countless lives through her generosity and compassion.
She was truly the life of the party. She loved to dance and could often be found on the dance floor, bringing laughter and energy to many gatherings, celebrations, and community events. Her love of people kept her surrounded by friends, and she treasured every opportunity to socialize and create lasting memories with those she loved.
She found happiness in tending flowers and making the world a more unique and beautiful place. Her gardens were a reflection of her own character— vibrant, and lovingly cared for. She took great pride in watching things grow and sharing the beauty of her blooms with others.
Her 96 years were filled with love, laughter, friendship, and countless cherished moments. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and joy that will continue to warm all who knew her.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family and friends take comfort in remembering her laughter, her dancing spirit, and the love she shared so freely. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Imy is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Andrew) Lewis of Sparta, TN and Helen Dodson of Crossville, TN, as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Freeman Daugherty, mother, Minerva Clark Daugherty, brother, Cecil Daugherty, sisters, Erma Edens, Louise, as well as her husbands, Stanton Kirby and Corbin Vanwinkle, and her son, Kenneth Kirby.
“A beautiful soul is never forgotten; she lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave.”
