On January 6, 2025, at the age of 92, Irene Lands peacefully entered the presence of her Lord, surrounded by her loving children. A loving wife, mother, and follower of Christ, her life was defined by her faith and care for those she loved.

Born on July 22, 1932, in New Hope, Tennessee, to Gus and Maggie Easter, Irene married Luther ‘Luke’ Lands on September 9, 1950, embarking on a journey that spanned 61 years until Luke’s passing in 2011. A dedicated homemaker and skilled seamstress, Irene also worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Chamberlain Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Ronald Lands (Jackie), Gary Lands, Lisa Atkins, and Jonathan Lands (Jenny). She also leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, who will always cherish her legacy of love and faithful Christian life. Among her family, she is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Bob Easter, and her sister-in-law, Loretta Lands.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther ‘Luke’ Lands, her parents, Gus and Maggie Easter, and her siblings, Wesley, Herman, Floyd, Franklin, Iola, Lola, Gustave, and Margie. She also mourned the loss of her daughter-in-law, Darlene (wife of Gary), and son-in-law, Jack (husband of Lisa).

Honoring Irene’s wishes, family and friends will meet for a brief graveside service on Sunday, January 12, at 2:00 PM at Roane Memorial Gardens, 1400 N. Gateway Avenue, Rockwood, Tennessee 37854, officiated by Pastor Jeff Parrott and Pastor Garvan Walls. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Mount Pisgah Baptist Printing Ministry of Oliver Springs, TN, or North Rockwood Baptist Church of Rockwood, TN, ministries close to Irene’s heart. Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tennessee is serving the family of Mrs. Irene E. Lands.
