Jack A. Matlock, 79

Mr. Jack A. Matlock, age 79 of Harriman, TN, passed away April 6, 2026, at his home. He was a member of Bazeltown Baptist Church in Harriman, TN. He grew up in a close-knit family and community where he cultivated deep roots of faith, family, and love. He loved his family unconditionally, and anyone who knew him knew that he had the biggest heart. From the beginning, he radiated his faith, strength, grace, and a fierce sense of purpose that would define the life he lived. Known for his unwavering dedication to his family, integrity, and hard work. He’s known for his love of fishing, gardening, and collecting antiques. His life was a testimony of God’s grace, and his legacy will carry forward through his family by his teachings of core values, respect, togetherness, and love.

 

He is proceeded in death by his mother and father: Ruthie Mae Gallaher Hughes (Fred) and Luther S. Matlock

Wife: Barbara A. Bazel Matlock

Son: Victor L. Matlock

Daughters: Marilyn Bazel and Evelyn D. Eskridge

Granddaughter: Jacquelyn Frazier

Great Grandson: Lyndon Preston

Sisters: Joyce Fitzgerald, Edna Williams, and Mary Finch

Brothers: Louis Matlock and William Matlock

Father-In-Law: Meredith Sheldon

 

Left to cherish his memories are his wife: Rebecca Sheldon Matlock

Daughters: Ruthie Ann Matlock Boea and Amanda Matlock Ray (Anterrio)

Granddaughters: Markiesha Bazel, Barbara Bazel, Shontia Matlock (Musiq), and Chasity Gallaher

Grandsons: Byron Bazel, Tyvon Frazier, Elijah Ray (Beyounce), and Malachi Ray (Shealynn)

Brother: Don Matlock

And a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

 

The family will receive friends Saturday April 11, 2026, at Davis Funeral Home in Harriman from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM. with Rev. Lonell Moore officiating. Following the funeral, Jack will be cremated according to his wishes. Repass will follow at Bazeltown Baptist Church.
