Jack Flynn Mullis, Jr, 83
Jack Flynn Mullis, Jr, was born in Mobile, Alabama, on February 17, 1943, to the late Jack Flynn Mullis, Sr. and Dorothy Smith Mullis. He peacefully left his earthly home on February 28, 2026.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Jonnie Mullis, and his parents, Jack and Dorothy. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Lois Moran, three children: Dixie Cole (Darryl), Christy Bailey (Tim), and Jack “Trey” Mullis, III (Michelle). His grandchildren: Nicole Cooper (David), Alexis Denney (Spencer), Emilee Mullis (Tristan), Jack Mullis IV (Betty), and Darryl Cole Jr. (Mei). He was a proud great-grandfather to Allison, Bradley, John Oliver Cooper, and Brooks Denney.
Jack was a man known for his humor more than his words of affection, but no one ever doubted how deeply he loved. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was cherished by his children and grandchildren, even if he rarely showed his emotions in obvious ways. His love lived in his presence, his loyalty, and the way he never failed to show up.
A natural jokester, he had a quick wit and loved a good chuckle. Laughter followed him wherever he went, often arriving before he did. Jack was a man of great faith with an unwavering devotion to Christ. He had a lifelong appreciation for strength and freedom, finding joy in Mustangs, woodworking, the sight of soaring eagles, and the open thrill of NASCAR races. Saturdays in the fall were sacred, reserved for Alabama football, which he followed with passion and pride.
Above all else, he loved his wife of 63 years, Johnnie. Their bond was the steady center of his life. He also held a special place in his heart for his loyal dog, Bama, who was rarely far from his side.
Though he wasn’t one to wear his heart on his sleeve, his family knew his love was constant and true. It was felt in his protection, his humor, and the traditions he passed down. His legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired, the values he modeled, and the countless memories shared by those who were lucky enough to call him Dad and Papa
