James “Frank” Moore, 90

Funeral Services for James “Frank” Moore, age 90, of Flintville, Tennessee, and formerly of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home.
Bro. Tim Singleton will officiate and Masonic Funeral Rites will be held with interment to follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery with Full Military Honors Provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Moore was born on Saturday, January 19, 1935, in Cookeville, Tennessee, to the late Paul Jasper and Myrtle Rockwell Moore.
Mr. Moore passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his home.
He is survived by his daughter,

son and daughter-in-law,
Richard Douglas “Doug” and Carolyn Moore of Texas
grandchildren, Sara (Chris) Mier, Michael Moore, Rachel (Chad) Colucci, Christina (Chase) Verstuyft, and Danielle Moore
caregivers, Alma Colvin, Lynn Molina, Valene Lange, and Tiffany Bailey
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Joyce Cooper Moore; sister, Mary Rebecca Lee; and brother, Paul Douglas Moore.
Frank grew up in a military family and was able to see a lot of the United States. He attended Baxter Seminary where he met and fell in love with Joyce Cooper who became his wife of 61 years.
Frank enlisted in the US Army as a private at the age of 17 and spanned an amazing and rewarding 33 years, retiring as a LT Colonel. While in the Army he became a paratrooper with 2200 jumps under his belt and served in both the Special Forces and Delta Force. He fought in Vietnam, Granada, and Panama, earning 3 Bronze stars among many other medals. Tours of duty included Germany (twice), Korea, Fort Bragg NC, Fort Sam Houston TX, and Fort Ord CA, as a battalion commander. Frank loved serving his country and especially his final assignment with Delta Force, serving directly under President Reagan.
Frank loved the sun and water and was active in boating and water skiing with his family. His many other pastimes included sport parachuting and shooting. He was involved with the boy scouts throughout his life, as a boy and supporting his son Doug as well as introducing scouting to the Boys of Monterey.
After retirement he and Joyce moved back home to Monterey, Tennessee, and built their dream home “The Eagles Nest” where many happy memories were made with friends and family. Together they rebuilt “The Mountain View Inn” into “The Mountain View Market” and ran it together for the next ten years. Frank was very active in the VFW, Lions Club, Boy Scouts and Masons, as well as a member of Monterey Church of Christ.
The final years of Frank’s life were spent with his daughter Becky on her farm in his cabin on the pond in Flintville, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM.
