James (Jay) Graves, 85

James (Jay) Graves, age 85, passed away September 24, 2025.
Jay was born June 21, 1940 in Deer Lodge, TN. To the late Ruble Clayton and Oma Kivett Graves.
He was preceded in death by his wife Aline Crouch Graves and sister Rita Clayborn.
Jay had two son’s, Tim Pierce with grandchild Suzi Pierce Davis, great grandchild
Arianna Davis, and Tony Graves with grandchildren Clayton Graves, Shelby Partridge and great
grandchild Emily Graves, and Logan Graves, Katy Bush, and great grandchild Jameson Graves; brother Lee
Graves and wife Linda.Jay also left behind a great host of additional relatives and friends.
Jay was an autodidact, mostly self-educated. He began his work life very young as a logger driving trucks, working for his dad,
from there the sky was the limit. Jay entered the Navy as soon as he was able. He was assigned to the USS Hollister as a gunner’s mate.
He remained in the Navy for his tour of duty and was honorably discharged after four years.
He and Aline decided to move south to Atlanta to seek out a living for their budding family.
Jay found work at Electro-Air working in the warehouse, where he began working his way up the corporate ladder.
He worked for the same company throughout his work life. Moving up in the organization at a rapid rate.
Jay was finally awarded Director of Sales before his early retirement at 57.
At his retirement he moved to back to Tennessee to Lake Tansi in Crossville where he made many friends, and
kept a meticulous home, and yard. Jay was known to be gregarious, a man with no enemies. He was an outgoing man that knew no strangers.
He had great love for his family and friends. We lost a great man and the Lord gained another saint.
Funeral service will be held on October 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Family and
friends will be received from 11 am to 1 pm.
The service will be conducted by Mundy Funeral Home, 229 S. Main St.,
Jamestown, TN 38556. Tel: 1-931-879-8121
Interment will immediately follow at Fentress Memorial Gardens, 2087 Memory
Gardens Rd. Jamestown, TN 38556.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation in
Memory of James Graves.
