It is with profound sadness, that we announce the passing of our much-loved sister, Janice Jean Hamrick, age 73, of Harriman, TN. Janice was being treated at UT Knoxville on Monday May 18, 2026, when Jesus took her hand and walked her through the gates of Heaven and home.

Janice was born, December 12, 1952, to Roy Eugene and Vida Jean (Russell) Vann. Tennessee is Jan’s home and she lived most of her life here; steadfastly refusing to move. Failing health initiated her residency in nursing facilities where she resided for the past eight years. Signature Health Care of Rockwood was her place of residency at the time of her passing.

Janice is survived by her daughter Yegulla Kristie Kilgore of South Pittsburg, TN and Danette Hamrick. Sisters Phyllis Barcot-Guilbault (Fred) of Kennewick, WA, Deborah Johnson (LZ) of Estill Springs, TN; brother Rick Slain of Bakersfield, CA. Eight grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janice is proceeded in death by her father Roy Eugene Vann, mother Vida Jean Powers, husbands Gene Turner and Merl Hamrick, son Charles Hamrick, brother Vic Jr. Slain. and sister Paula Slain. Her spirit will live on in our hearts forever and she will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman. A celebration of her life will take place at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Pond Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to charity of your choice. Kyker Funeral Home of Harriman is serving the Hamrick Family.
