Jeanie Pulliam Lowry, 71

Jeanie Pulliam Lowry, 71, of Oak Ridge, TN passed away unexpectedly at home on December 3, 2024. She was born in Memphis, TN in 1953 to Gene and Hazel Pulliam and attended White Station High school where she played clarinet in the high school band. In addition to receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1975, Jeanie also earned a Master of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling from Memphis State University. Upon graduation from UT at Martin, Jeanie taught in the Memphis Public School system for four years before moving to Albuquerque, NM where she worked as a Teacher’s aide for 4 years. Jeanie moved to Oak Ridge, TN in 1983 and began working for Oak Ridge schools in 1992 until she retired in 2017.
Being a grandparent was a highpoint in Jeanie’s life and was affectionately called “Nana” by her grandchildren. Jeanie enjoyed trips with her grandchildren to the beach, Dollywood, and Disney World. Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Hazel Pulliam, and is survived by her husband, Carl Lowry, daughter Amanda Sharp (JR), son Aaron Lowry, brother Todd Pulliam (Pam), grandchildren Jace Reynolds and Harper Sharp. Particularly special people in Jeanie’s life were Amanda Reynolds (Jace’s mom), Robert Briley (Gina), and Mark Todd (Martha).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church, 7234 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library would be greatly appreciated.
