Jerry Allen Payne, age 80, was born to John Houston and Naomi “Oma” Burden Payne on April 2, 1942, in Lafollette, TN, and passed away on January 1, 2023, in Crossville, TN. Jerry was an exceptional full-back for White Co. High in 1959, went on to play Castle Heights Military Academy, and then on to MTSU. He worked for Potter Freight Line for several years and then on to Thousand Oaks Market in the late 70s. He went back to the trucking business until he retired from CSE Trucking. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He had a very special bond with his siblings and friends- Richard Clark and Gary Green.

He is survived by his wife- Peggy Payne, children- Jeff Payne and Steven Payne (Janie), grandchildren- Rachel, Eli, Zach, Melanie, Emily, and Travis, great-grandchildren- Maesen, Bennett, and Ellie Ann, and siblings- Jean Knowles, Sid Payne, and Bruce Payne

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, siblings- Ann Brewer and Jack Payne, and daughter- Tara Richards.

A graveside service will be held in Crossville City Cemetery at a later date.
