JoAnn Womack Freeland, beloved wife of Marion Freeland (to whom she was married for 57 years), devoted mother to Melissa Freeland Beckner (Jason) and Belinda Freeland Tucker (David), passed away peacefully onSunday, December 14, 2025 at her residence in Spring City Tennessee. JoAnn was born in Franklin, North Carolina on November 17, 1950.

JoAnn leaves behind a legacy of love through her five cherished grandchildren: Georgia Beckner, Gavin Beckner, Ryan Tucker, Gage Beckner, and Kylie Tucker. She was a pillar of strength and joy in their lives.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Bill and Emma Hogsed Womack and sister to Margaret Womack Creswell (Keith). JoAnn’s warmth, compassion, and love touched the hearts of many and her loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

For many years, JoAnn dedicated her time and passion to Rhea County High School, where her commitment and care impacted the lives of countless students and colleagues.

A devout Christian, JoAnn exemplified her faith through her everyday actions, striving to embody God’s grace and kindness in all aspects of her life. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light for those around her.  She was an active member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church until her illness kept her at home.

Her memory will forever be cherished by family, friends, and the community she touched with her kindness and grace. Though she may no longer be with us, her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 2PM at Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel in Spring City, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12PM until 2PM. at Vaughn Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment will be at Overbrook Cemetery in McCormick, South Carolina on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Hospice of Chattanooga , 2030 Hamilton Place Blvd Suite 220 Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421 in honor of JoAnn’s memory.

Rest peacefully, JoAnn/Mom/Grandma/Nanny. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
