JOHN EDWARD LESCHER

John was born in Chicago, Illinois to Dr. Henry & Loretto Lescher. He was the seventh son in a family of 11 children. He grew up going to McHenry, IL for vacations where his family had a cottage on the Fox River.

In 1952 he graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in business, married Patricia Barry, and was drafted into the US Army.

While in the army he served the majority of his service in Korea during the Korean War, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Bronze Star.

He and his wife Patricia moved to McHenry the place he loved growing up and had seven wonderful children, Edward, Barry, Beverly, Cindi, Stephen, Laura & Barbara. He lived in McHenry for 70 years.

He later married Karen Thompson who taught English at McHenry High School for 20 years.

He co-founded Conles Telephone Company in 1968 with the late George Cone and was in business for 40 years in McHenry.

He was a very active life member of VFW post 4600 in McHenry where he served as the Quartermaster & on the Board of Directors for 15 years. He worked to expand the VFW Post Building with the Banquet & Bingo Hall. He is also a life member of American Legion Post 491, McHenry, IL.

He was a loyal, dedicated, and loving Father who enjoyed his family, sports, fishing on his pontoon boat on the Fox River, dancing, golfing, casino trips, the river, and crossword puzzles.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry & Loretto, his wives Patricia & Karen, his siblings Henry (the late Dorothy), George, William, Alfred (the late Theresa), Chuck (Beverly), and Dorothy, his son Stephen, and his granddaughter Shannon Schwarz.

He is survived by his children, Ed, Barry (Iren), Beverly Guyser (Robert), Cindi Schwarz (Henry) Laura Donnelly (Paul) & Barbara. Grandchildren: Robert, Lindsey, Kenny, Erin Ferguson (Iian) Andrew (Mandi), Tawni, Brendan, and Megan. Great-grandchildren Gunner, Magnus, Thos, Soleil, Elio, and His siblings, Robert (the late Kathryn), Mary Mayer (the late Joseph), Bettianne Pucci (the late Tony), and Loretto Carr (the late Jack).

He is also survived by his friend and companion of 36 years Shirley Klapperich and her children Randy (Barbie), Terry Fair (Drake), Mark (Peggy), Kirk (Julie) Lenny & Patrick.

John has requested no services and requested that his family gather together to remember him and celebrate his life at a future date to be announced.

He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
