John “Jaxter” Baxter Burnett II, age 79, of Crossville, TN, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at his home. Jaxter was born on May 28, 1947, in Harriman, TN, the son of the late H. Cornell Burnett and Eloise (Huling) Burnett.

Jaxter grew up roaming through the Crab Orchard hills and Crossville streets. He loved to tell stories of 1950-70 Crossville history. He was a true TN Volunteer fan, rarely seen without some sort of TN apparel. He retired in 2016 after 42 years at Cumberland Medical Center as the senior Blood Bank Technologist. He spent his retirement years enjoying adventures with his family and being the very best Papaw.

He is survived by his wife, Lee Hale Burnett; children, Heather Rasmus (John), Brandi Velotta (Jamie), Ashley Bledsoe (Brian), Abby Whitson (Cub), John Burnett (Meka); 12 grandchildren: Cameron, Liam, Tyler, Bailee, Cullen, Merritt, Mallie, Mabrie, Aiden, Braelyn, Britlee, and Bella; and one great-grandchild, Jamie.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brothers, Jerry Cornell Burnett and Randall Keith Burnett.

Funeral services will be held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 3:00 PM, with burial to follow at Crossville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM with the request to wear TN orange.
