Jonathan “Shane” Hennessee, age 34

Jonathan “Shane” Hennessee, age 34, of Crossville, TN, passed away on August 21, 2022, at his home following an eight-month battle with cancer.

He was born on August 24, 1987, in Crossville, TN, son of Charles “Chuck” Hennessee and Kristine (Rowland) Turner. Shane grew up in Crossville, and after graduating Cumberland County High School in 2005, he went on to earn an associate degree in Computer Programming from Roane State Community College. For the last several years, he was a computer programmer for Weather TAP, and he looked forward to growing his career there doing what he enjoyed.

Shane was an extraordinary man, and he loved deeply, just as he was deeply loved. He met his wife, Chelsea, in 2008, and they were married June 22, 2012. They had two children, Carter and Emilia, that Shane loved more than anything. He was an incredible father, an amazing husband, a wonderful son, the best big brother, and a great friend to all.  He was kind, hilarious, selfless, sarcastic, brave, and truly was the best of us. To know him was to love him.  Shane loved gaming and had an extensive network of longtime online friends that he enjoyed hanging out with regularly.  He also loved bowling, concerts, spending time with his family and friends, building computers, football, anime, and hanging out at home with his wife, kids, and cats.  He was always looking forward to the next cookout, birthday party, ball game, recital, or anything where he could go see and support the ones he loved. We miss him beyond words, but we are comforted by all the amazing memories we have and the knowledge that he is at peace in Heaven. Shane, we love you so much and we will see you on the other side.

He is survived by his wife, Chelsea Hennessee; son, Carter Hennessee; daughter, Emilia Hennessee; mother, Kristine Turner (Phillip); father, Chuck Hennessee (Courtney); siblings, Alicia Findley (Jeremy), Timothy Hennessee (Kala), Jake Hennessee, and Eli Hennessee; nieces and nephews, Natalee, Braylon, Paityn, Mason, and Jared Findley and Aubrey Hennessee; maternal grandmother, Carol Lawless; paternal grandmother, Jane Hennessee; paternal grandfather, Kenneth Hennessee; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Shane is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Rowland; mother-in-law, Amy Barnswell; uncle, Dave Funderburk; and cousin, Kevin Funderburk.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 2:00 pm to honor Shane. The celebration will be held at Oaklawn Baptist Church at 3977 US-70, Crossville, TN 38555.
