Graveside Funeral Services for Johnny Phy, age 72, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be conducted on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Davis Cemetery in Cookeville, Tennessee. Pastor Robert Yockey will officiate. Mr. Phy was born on Friday, November 7, 1952, in Cookeville, Tennessee, to the late William Floyd and Pearl Tollison Phy. Mr. Phy passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Midtown St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Phy was a retired public works employee with the City of Cookeville with 36 years of service. He was lovingly known as “Pop”, and the best dad and grandfather. He was a patient, giving, and easy-going person, always helping anyone that needed anything. He loved fishing, hunting, and attending ball games. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Sparta. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Irene Wilson Phy; daughter, Connie Lafever; son, Michael Phy; grandchildren, Ellie Phy, Hannah (Caleb) Rubel, Tiffany Shockley (Kenny), Adam Lafever, and Dixie Briggs; great grandchildren, Paisley, Parker, Blake (Haylee), Paris, Golden, Gia’Bella, Jackson, and Kingston; and sister, Joyce Reels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louetta Bennett; brother, Jerry Phy; grandson, Andrew Phy; great granddaughter, Jasmine Shockley; and brother-in-law, Billy Lafever.
