JOINT INVESTIGATION LEADS TO LARGE BUST

On August 7, 2024 a search warrant was served at the residence of Daniel Lance Buis, in the 200 block of Kenneth Street in Athens, Tennessee, and on a storage unit tied to him located in Athens Tennessee. During the search approximately 540 grams of methamphetamine, 41 firearms (4 of which were reported stolen), three improvised explosive devices (not pictured), over $40,000 in US currency, and several items of drug paraphernalia. This was a result of a joint investigation by the 10th Judicial Drug Task Force, Athens Police Department, McMinn County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Sweetwater Police Department, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. ATF was also called to assist with the explosives.

Daniel Lance Buis was arrested by the 10th Judicial Drug Task Force and charged with the following:

•Possession of Methamphetamine for Resale greater than 300 grams
•Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
•Possession of an Improvised Explosive Device
•Possession of Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony
•Maintaining a drug dwelling for the use or keep of a controlled substance
•Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
