Jowana Ann Stinnett, 79
A lifelong resident of Oliver Springs, TN, Jowana Ann Stinnett departed this life and entered her Heavenly home on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN while surrounded by the ones she loved the most, after a long battle with cancer.
Jowana was a faithful member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. She was the daughter of Rev. Elgin Hayes Bass and Ozia Harness Bass. Jowana worked at Roane Hosiery Mill in Harriman, TN for several years, but greatest accomplishments were being the mother of her late daughter Ramona Stinnett, her son Gary Stinnett, and a grandparent (Mam-Moo) to all her beloved grandchildren and great – grandchildren.
Jowana spent her time here on earth loving her friends and family to the fullest. Every person she met or came in contact with held a place in her heart.

– Maternal Grandparents, Lummie and Flora Harness
– Nephews, Michael and Miguel Bass
– Aunt, Retha Bass
– Sister-in-law, Sherry Lynn Bass
– Brother-in-law, Rev. Glen Ledbetter
– Along with many aunts, uncles, and dear cousins
Jowana is survived by:
– Her son, Gary Stinnett, and wife Julie of Coalfield, TN
– Grandsons, Jacob Stinnett and fiancée Alexandra Bean of Oak Ridge, TN, and Colt Stinnett of Coalfield, TN
– Precious great – granddaughters, Kyliee and Baylee Stinnett of Oak Ridge, TN
– Special friend and father of her children, Howard Stinnett of Oliver Springs, TN
– Aunt, MotLainey Cook of Florida
– Nieces and nephews who were very special to her: Eddie and Teddy Brown of Oliver Springs, TN; Glenna Donnell of Knoxville, TN; Jonathan Ledbetter of Florida; Corinna Thomas of Oliver Springs, TN; Lindsay Bass of Oak Ridge, TN; Bridget Coker of Oliver Springs, TN and Brandon Bass of Clinton, TN
Jowana is also survived by a host of cousins, great – nieces and nephews, along with many special friends. Jowana will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her dear neighbors and friends: Nella Reynolds (Miss Nan), Brenda Gilmore, Myrtle Lowe, Lilly Faye Lough, and a very special cousin, Harvey Bass.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs, TN. Funeral will be Monday, August 17, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, TN with Rev. Mitch Melhorn and Rev. Mark Langley officiating. Graveside will follow the funeral service in the church cemetery.
