Julius Joseph Van Paemel, 81, of Crossville, TN, formerly from Port Byron, Illinois,
passed away peacefully on Friday October 4, 2024, at Life Care of Crossville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church on November 16, 2024
At 1:00pm. Burial and Celebration of Life in Port Byron, Illinois will be announced at a
later date.
He was the son of Joseph and Gabrielle (Mortier) Van Paemel and married Judy Ann Van
Pamael on January 19, 1974. Jay was a well-respected member of the banking community,
starting out at Colona Ave. Metro Bank in East Moline, Illinois. He was a mentor, boss, and
great friend to so many.
Fondly known as Petje (Belgian for grandpa) to his family, Jay adored his wife
Judy and doted on his 6 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He taught us all how
to love our Lord, cherish family, be organized, not ask for directions, take cell phone
pictures of inside your pocket, and enjoy life.
He is survived by his wife Judy Van Paemel, Crossville, TN; son, Mike (Catherine) Van
Paemel, Dubuque, IA; son, Darren Van Paemel, Matherville, IL; daughter, Dawn (Van
Paemel) Schussler, Chattanooga, TN, 6 grandchildren; Sidney Schussler, Jon
Schussler, Zach (Kayla) Schussler, Lilly Schussler, Gabby Van Paemel and Elizabeth Van
Paemel. 1 great granddaughter; Joy Schussler, 2 beloved pets; Lucky and Kramer and
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jay was preceded in his death by his
parents.
