Kenneth Lee “Cub” Daugherty, 74

Kenneth Lee “Cub” Daugherty was born on March 16, 1951, to Hassie and Otis Daugherty in New River Tennessee. On the evening of Friday, September 26, 2025, he finally found peace as he journeyed to that serene shore.

At the age of 74, he was joyfully reunited with His Heavenly Father. Welcoming him were his beloved late wife, Pamela Rhea Daugherty, his parents along with his brothers, Noah, George, Gilbert, and his sister, Phyllis. His daughters, Amanda and Leeann, and his son, Kim Daugherty, were also there to embrace him. Now, he can finally be a father to Sally and Brenda and a grandfather to his grandchildren, Dustin Carroll and Deserea Rhea, who left us too soon.

In his younger days, Kenneth and his brother George indulged in activities such as making and running moonshine. They would often engage in games of pool which occasionally escalated into fights willingly and were often brought on by one of the two. Kenneth is renowned for his unwavering determination and perseverance. Once he set his mind on something he committed himself wholeheartedly and relentlessly to accomplish such.

Despite being labeled an outlaw, because of his days making and running moonshine, Kenneth was undeniably a dedicated and hardworking man. Before dedicating nearly 40 years to Oakridge Hardwoods, he spent his time driving an eighteen-wheeler, transporting coal, gravel and logs. From a young age, he understood the profound importance of a strong work ethic, and made sure his sons knew the same.

When he wasn’t working, you might find him by the beloved creek, casting his line and eagerly reeling in a big catch. If not there, you could find him at Norris or in New River, whether at the campground or at the dock, launching his boat for a day of fishing with family. In his later years, he cherished the simple joys of life, finding solace in his garden and the warmth of the front porch with a cup of coffee. Sunday afternoons were filled with laughter and love as he cooked out with his cherished family. His favorite pastime became pestering his grandkids, especially the younger ones—Garrett, Justin, Iris and Lydian

Kenneth was the kind of jokester whose razor-sharp wit could cut through butter—or at least through the patience of his family and friends! Even in his last days, he was still giving everyone a hard time just for a laugh. His humor was so infectious that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren inherited it, making sure we won’t forget it.

His memory will live on through his son Gary and daughter-in-law Amber Daugherty, daughters: Christal and Trish Rhea. Grandchildren; Garrett and Justin Daugherty; Aleeah (Joey) Ward; Taylor Pride; Dylan, Luke and Abby Carroll; Destiny Rhea; Angel and Cassie Daugherty; Danni, Sommer, David, Trey and JonSi Edwards; Mariah Ashley White. Great-Great Grandchildren; Iris and Willow Ward; Riley Carroll; Lydian Edwards Jaxson Brice and Brantley Edwards; Zahliee and Alizée Reyna. Sister: Emily (Ted) Tackett, Mary and Janet Daugherty, sister-in-laws; Butchie, Shirley and Gail (Peanut). A tribe of nieces and nephews. Specials friends; Chris Kizzieth, Brandon Ketner, Rick Roop, Brenda (Steve) jones, David Butler and Gerald Britt.
