KENTUCKY STATE POLICE INVESTIGATING OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY, KENTUCKY
The Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting this morning in Cumberland County, Kentucky following a vehicle pursuit.
Initial reports indicate a deputy with the Cumberland County, Kentucky Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop a driver in a Chevy Cobalt for allegedly driving recklessly on Kentucky 61 just south of Burkesville. The driver failed to stop, and led police on a pursuit that travelled onto Kentucky 90 toward Clinton County. The pursuit ended when the driver crashed before reaching the Clinton County line. Deputies and officers with the Kentucky State Police were confronted by the suspect who was armed with a knife. Shots were fired by officers fatally wounding the suspect. The identity of the driver hasn’t been released at this time. The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
