Larry Eugene “Gene” Hampton, 78, of Harriman, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Sr. and Lois May Hunter Hampton of Harriman, and by his beloved daughter, Adrienne Hampton.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene Hampton; his brother R.C. Hampton and the late Carolyn Hampton, and brother Steve (Sandra) Hampton. He also leaves behind his loving children Luther (Angie) Manning, Sonya (Chris) Schultz, Hollie (Craig) Hurley, Brandy Hampton, and Nikki (Ian) Hadley.

Larry was a proud grandfather to Tabatha Champlain, Tyler Manning and girlfriend Brooklyn, Rebecca Manning and her fiancé Allen, Riley Hurley, Hayden Hurley, Skyler Stanley, Bryson Patterson, Kaine Melton, Kylie Patterson, and Lyric McCullough. He was also blessed with one great-granddaughter, Makenzie Houston.

He will be lovingly remembered by his nephews Charles (Pam) Hampton, Roy Wiley, and Tim (Emily) Wiley; his nieces Buffy (John) Bussell, Leigh (Christopher) Giles, and Linda Gail (Brian) Collins; and many cherished friends and loved ones.

Larry retired from Roane State Community College after 26 years of dedicated service in the Physical Plant. He was a hardworking, kindhearted man who loved UT sports, gardening, mowing, spending time with his grandkids, and sharing every day with his loyal sidekick and best friend, Knox.

Larry’s warmth, humor, and love for his family will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

His wishes were to be cremated. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at his home, 179 Bullard Ford Rd Harriman.  Drop in visitation from 2-4PM.  Please join the family as they gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Larry “Gene”, and honor his birthday with love, laughter and memories.
