A Celebration of Life Gathering for Larry F. Cox, age 80, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Mr. Cox was born on Saturday, March 9, 1946, in Monterey, Tennessee, to the late Frank and Gladys Buttram Cox. At the age of 2 years old, his father passed away and his mother later married Talmadge Buckner whom he always considered as his “Pap”. Mr. Cox passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Livingston Regional Hospital. Mr. Cox was an electrical lineman retiring from Volunteer Energy Cooperative with 30 plus years of service. He was Baptist in faith with great appreciation to Rev. William J. Powell and JS Brown for their influence in his Christian walk with the Lord. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and found happiness spending time with them. He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Sue Lusk Cox of Monterey, TN; children, Leigh Flatt of Monterey, TN, and Michael Cox of Monterey, TN; grandchildren, Kaylee (Spencer) Powell, and Canaan Flatt; great grandchildren, Ezerah, Jameson, Addie, and due in June, Millie; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Ray and Kathy Buckner of Monterey, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Buckner; and an infant brother. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be given to Bread of Life, 281 4th Street, Crossville, TN 38555.
