Laura Virginia (Bennett) Brogdon, age 71 of Dayton, passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Rhea Medical Center. She was born in Berrien County, GA, on June 20, 1955, the daughter of the late Rev. Tillman Bennett and Dorothy (Exum) Bennett.

Laura made her home in Dayton for the past five years, after many years in McDonald, TN. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, caring for others throughout her career. In her free time, she found joy in crocheting, woodworking, fishing, and reading.

Laura is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Brogdon, Jr. of Dayton; her five children, John (Cecelia) Brogdon, III of Pikeville, Dawn Davis of Dayton, Steven (Jaylene) Brogdon of Old Fort, Rebecca (Travis) Miller of Cleveland, and Anthea (Adam Long) Blair of Niota; her three honorary children; Erica (Bryan) Woodman, Aleena Amer, and Aleesa Amer; her 28 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and her four siblings, James Bennett of Ontario, Canada, Amanda (Dave) Baughman of Dayton, Dianne Spurlock of Nashville, GA, and Mary (Bob) Coleman of Tifton, GA.

A graveside funeral service for Laura will be on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Rhea Memory Gardens. A gathering will be held at Vanderwall Funeral Home on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. then proceed in procession to Rhea Memory Gardens.
