Lauren C. Poole (née Smith), 67

Lauren C. Poole (née Smith), 67, of Kingston, TN, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, with her husband, children, and family by her side. She was the heart and soul of her family and devoted her life to caring for others — not only as a nurse, but as a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. Known for her quick wit and sense of humor, Lauren had a special way of bringing smiles and laughter to everyone around her.

Affectionately known as “Laurie,” she is survived by her husband and best friend of 36 years, Larry Poole. Together, they built a life centered on hard work, caring for others, and — above all — family. She was a proud and loving mother to Kristen Taylor, Heather (Brad) White, Brianna Poole, Matt Poole, and Jason Poole. Laurie is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Colette Smith, her beloved sister, Debbie Plemons, her niece, Mandy Smith, and her grandson, Brayden Sandlin. She also leaves behind 8 adoring grandchildren — Paisley, Maleah, Paxton, Grady, Austin, Tanner, Sophia, Emma— along with many nieces, nephews, and siblings who will miss her dearly.

Best known as “Liba”— a name lovingly given to her by her grandchildren — she found endless joy in being part of their lives. She was always there for their ball games, celebrations, and everyday moments, cheering them on with pride. She delighted in their accomplishments, big and small, and was their biggest cheerleader in every sense. She leaves them with a legacy of love, selflessness, and memories they will carry with them always.

Laurie had a natural gift of caring for others, paired with a deep passion for helping those in need. She earned her nursing degree in 1986 while raising her children as a single mother — a true reflection of her strength and determination. Laurie went on to serve as a nurse at Harriman Hospital for 30+ years, but her compassion extended far beyond her profession, touching the lives of everyone she met.

She never took life too seriously and always found humor in the moment. She was truly the “host with the most,” known for her legendary Easter egg hunts, annual Halloween weenie roast, and a bottomless bag of prizes she collected for both events throughout the year. Gatherings at her home — whether for family, friends, or friends who were like family — were cherished traditions, creating lasting memories for everyone lucky enough to attend. Aside from spending time with her family, she loved weekend getaways with Larry, thrifting and yard sales, trips to the beach, listening to Rod Stewart, sister weekends, and music boxes – treasured items she collected throughout her life.

Perhaps most importantly, Laurie was a woman of faith. A member of the First Baptist Church in Kingston, she lived her life in service to the Lord. While the time she spent on this side of heaven feels far too brief, her family finds comfort in the assurance that her faith has carried her home. She now rests in the eternal embrace of her Lord and Savior, reunited with her loved ones.

The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Fraker Funeral Home in Kingston.  Online register book may be signed at www.FrakerFuneralHome.net. Fraker Funeral Home of Kingston is in charge of the arrangements.
