Lennie Adams Stansbury, 90

Lennie Adams Stansbury of Kingston TN went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. She was a longtime Christian and a member of Central Baptist Church in Oak Ridge in her younger years and First Baptist Church in Kingston after she moved from Oak Ridge to Kingston.

 

Lennie was born in Farner, TN on March 6, 1935 to Luther M. Adams and Ethel B. Adams. She attended school in Farner and Ducktown, TN until moving to Fontana Dam, NC, where her father worked on building the TVA Fontana Dam in the 1940’s. Following the completion of Fontana Dam, the family moved to Knoxville, TN, followed by moving to Oak Ridge, TN, where her father worked and retired from the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant, operated by Union Carbide Corporation-Nuclear Division, prior to moving back to Farner, TN.

 

Lennie graduated from Oak Ridge High School (ORHS) in 1953 where she met her future husband, Ralph Lee Stansbury Jr, and they married on January 21, 1955. After graduating from Oak Ridge High School, Lennie begin working at the Oak Ridge Y-12 and K-25 Nuclear Plants. Lennie had many friends and was always involved with civic & church activities, including the Women’s Missionary Union, Senior Group “Go-Getters” at Central Baptist and traveled extensively with them. Young at Hearts Group, Senior Choir, Family Community & Education Club (FCE) (formerly called Home Demonstration Club) activities in Roane County that held a Christmas Ideals Fair to raise money for the Don & Betty McGlasson Scholarship Fund at Roane State, American Cancer Society of Roane County, Red Hats, and Fontana Dam Kids Reunions. She and her husband, Lee traveled to 48 of the 50 United States and also to Mexico and Canada. They work together one summer at the Yellowstone National Park. They also worked as ushers at the UT ball games. Lennie received many ribbons for her canned food and craft entries to the Roane County Fair. She loved to garden and share the fruits of her labor with her family, friends, and neighbors. She canned fruits and vegetables, prepared food, and vegetables from her garden and delivered them to family and friends, being especially thoughtful to take food and craft goods to the sick & shut-ins. She had a great greeting card ministry and routinely visited friends in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

 

Lennie is preceded in death by her father, Luther M. Adams & mother, Ethel B. Adams; brothers, Wade & Ray Adams; sisters, Blanche Morrow, Dean Derrick, and Alene Davis; brothers-in-law, Marion Morrow, Otto Derrick, Bobby Hopkins, Don Jackson, and Jack Davis; sisters in law, Garnette Adams, and Betty Adams.

 

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ralph Lee Stansbury Jr; sons, David Stansbury & wife, Helen, Terry Stansbury & wife, Pamela; daughter, Lee Ann Stansbury Hughes & husband, Burt; Grandchildren, Steve and Renee Stansbury, Sam and Lauren Stansbury, Eric and Miranda Stansbury, Megan Stansbury, Jason Stansbury, Jesse & Maranda Stansbury, Christina & Zack Monroe; Great- grandchildren, Marcus Roberts, Cooper Stansbury, Colt Stansbury, Sophia Stansbury, Evie Stansbury, Zoey Stansbury, Iden Stansbury, Ella Stansbury, Cade Stansbury, Carter Stansbury, Turner Monroe and Hudson Monroe; sister, Madge Jackson; She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 11:00 am -12:00 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Fraker Funeral Home in Kingston with funeral service following at 12:00 noon in the chapel with Rev. Jody McLoud officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Fairview Cemetery in Kingston. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be made to the American Cancer Society or East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Online register book can be signed at www.FrakerFuneralHome.net.
