LOWE RECEIVES 80 YEARS TO SERVE FOR CHILD RAPE

Jonathan Maine Lowe, age 34, of Scott County was sentenced yesterday to eighty (80) years to serve in prison by Judge Zachary R. Walden, Criminal Court Judge for the 8th Judicial District.

Lowe’s sentencing comes after a jury returned guilty verdicts against the defendant for five counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts each of incest and child abuse, and one count each of rape and rape of a child.

Authorities said at the time that he had sexually assaulted his stepdaughter for years, beginning in 2010 when the girl was just five years old.

The indictment alleged that the assaults and rapes occurred in the fall of 2010, throughout 2013, in the summer of 2016, in November 2016, in the summer of 2017, in the fall of 2019, and in October 2020.

Lowe was found guilty after a two-day jury trial. At trial, testimony was presented by the Department of Children’s Services, members of the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, and the minor victim. The victim testified that these incidences occurred over a ten-year span.

The case was investigated by the Scott County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Children’s Services. The prosecution was aided by the Children’s Center of the Cumberlands and their facility dog, Lucia.

At sentencing, the State was represented by Assistant District Attorney General Apryl C. Bradshaw.
