Lowell Gordon Harris, 80

An inspiring preacher, devoted, servant, and beloved patriarch. Lowell Gordon Harris, age 80, of Cottontown, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025 after battling congestive heart failure and kidney failure. Born on December 18, 1944 in Crawford, Tennessee to the late Rufus and Dean Harris. He was one of eight children raised in a Christian home. He graduated from Clarkrange High School in 1965. He went onto earn a theology degree from the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, Texas in 1972. Throughout his life, Lowell held an unwavering faith in God, sharing his love, warmth, and humor with everyone he met. He dedicated his life to preaching and sharing the gospel in various locations over 53 years. He came to serve the Clearview Church of Christ congregation in August of 1983. He was known for his scripture packed sermons, his guidance and deep compassion for his fellow laborers in Christ. He loved to study God’s word and lead Bible classes. Lowell’s life was a testament to his faith, his love and his unwavering dedication to serving God and his community. He will be deeply missed by his legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew him. Beyond his ministry, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Lowell is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Dean Harris; son, Matthew Harris; brother, Vernen Harris; sisters, Francis Stults & Diane Phillips.

Lowell is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jane Harris; daughters, Susan Gregory & Sharla (Barry) Johns; grandchildren, Taylor Gregory, Madison Johns, & Aidan Blevins; siblings, Betty Leming, Peggy Houston, Donald Harris, & Harry Harris; brother-in-law, Benny Ford.

Funeral service for Lowell will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with Mike Moore officiating.

Visitation for Lowell will be on Monday, August 11th, 2025 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 from 12:00 until 1:00 pm (service time).

Interment will follow at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025 at Welch Cemetery in Monterey, TN.

In lieu of flowers, it was Lowell’s wish to donate to the Clearview Church of Christ Benevolence Fund.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the Clearview Church of Christ for their support, kindness, and care during his lengthy illness and final days.
