Marion Lucy Stanavige, 98

Marion Lucy Stanavige, 98, of Crossville, TN, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Cumberland House Hospice.

Mrs. Stanavige was born to the late Frank and Anna Komantauskas on May 9, 1924, in Forest City, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Stanavige. They lived in Hartford, CT, where she worked for Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Company a job she truly enjoyed. In 2017 she left Connecticut with her daughter and son-in-law to share their new home in the Carolinas. She moved one last time in 2020 to stay with her other daughter in the Linary section of Crossville, where the mountains are reminiscent of her birthplace.

Helping her family was a top priority, but she also loved to garden, sew, knit, and decorate. An excellent teacher, her family says she missed her calling. She was unafraid to tackle whatever she set her mind to, and achieved skill in all endeavors.

She is predeceased by all her siblings – sister (infant) Alice Komantauskas born in Lithuania; and six American-born brothers and sisters – John Komantauskas, Albert Koman, Frank Komantauskas, Victoria Bonacci, Frances Dobishinsky, and Veronica Komantauskas.

Surviving is daughters, JoAnne Hickey (Herbert) of Crossville, TN, and Marilyn (Karl) Bauch of Waxhaw, NC; and five grandchildren, Nora Miller of Mayland, TN; Joseph Hickey (Dr. Jennifer Frontera) of Brooklyn, NY; Angela Lawrence (William) of Indian Trail, NC; Eric Bauch (Jolene) of Ellington, CT; and Christopher Bauch (Elizabeth) of Coventry, CT. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews, and nine cherished great-grandchildren –  Liliana, Bridget, and Audrey; Alana and Chelsea; Blake and Luke; and Joseph and Jennifer.

Arrangements and care are provided by Bilbrey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 76 E. Adams Street, Crossville, where the family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25. The funeral mass will be at Saint Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 151 Saint Alphonsus Way, Crossville, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26. On Saturday, August 13, at 1:00 p.m., a graveside service will take place at Saint Anthony Cemetery in Forest City, PA, arranged by Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home of Forest City.

Those wishing to make memorial donations are encouraged to consider the American Cancer Society, Autism Speaks, Blazing Hope Ranch (Dayton, TN), the American Stroke Association (of the American Heart Association), or the Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church building fund (Crossville, TN).
