Martha Mae Kesterson Hill, 97

Martha Mae Kesterson Hill, age 97, went home to be with Jesus on December 14, 2024. Martha was born in Anderson County on February 12, 1927, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert Hill, by parents Sam and Mary Cox Kesterson, sisters, Grace Sweet, Dorthea Riggs, Helen Christopher; brothers, Paul Kesterson, Jesse Kesterson, and Samuel Luther Kesterson.

She is survived by her children Roy Hill and wife Gwen, Juanita Bowman and husband David. She also leaves behind grandchildren Amanda Estes and husband Danny, Adam Hill and wife Becky, Drew Bowman and wife Amy. Martha was also blessed with great grandchildren Julia Estes, Maggie Woods and husband Dalton, Joshua Hill and wife Allie, Isabella Hill, Ella Bowman and Reed Bowman. She is also survived by one sister, Ruth Lackey; sister-in-laws Gladys Thompson, Opal Sarten, Ruth Letner, Lucille Todd, Mary Lou Miller; brother-in-law Kenneth Hill and wife Linda and several nieces and nephews.

Her favorite time of year was Christmas. This special season was celebrated with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. All would gather at her house for a special time of family, food, fun and gifts.

Martha was a faithful member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church for over 70 years and loved to sing in the choir. She was a prayer warrior, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord with all her heart and loved the nation of Israel. She enjoyed volunteering at Mount Pisgah Bible Print Shop, working with the bus ministries and going on mission trips. Quilting, sewing, and working with her flowers were her favorite hobbies.

She retired from Roane Hosiery in Harriman and then worked as a caregiver until she was 80 years old.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Signature Health Care of Harriman and Rockwood.  Also, special appreciation and gratitude to Caris hospice for compassionate care during her final days.

Visitation will be from 12:00PM to 1:00PM at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.  Funeral will follow at 1:00PM with Pastor Garvan Walls, officiating.  Interment to follow at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
