Martha McCarter, 71

Martha McCarter, born March 11, 1955, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, to Kenneth and Lorene Fugate, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Fugate, and her special aunt, Ozelle Sewell.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Harkness; Stephanie Ford (Jeff); Stacy Farmer (Devin); Michael McCarter; and Samantha Henry; her siblings, Bonnie Herrell, Brenda Dyer, Paul Fugate, David Fugate, and Donna Sewell (also her best friend); her honorary daughter, Melinda Topmiller; her grandchildren, Alan Ford, Bailey McCarter, Erica Breeden (Matthew), Jessica Blaylock (Ross), Timmy Mallet, Kyler McCarter, Aiden Harkness, Naythan McCarter, Laney McCarter, and Lauren Farmer; and her great-grandchildren, Colton Breeden, Cason Breeden, Caylor Breeden, and Josie Blaylock.

While she loved her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she was theirs as well. Martha loved nature, the outdoors, the beach, and her four dogs, which brought her much happiness.

Martha will be greatly missed by her co-workers and customers at Hardee’s in Oliver Springs. Martha loved to worship her Savior and regularly attended Milestone Church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The family kindly asks that attendees dress casually, as Martha was a T-shirt and blue jeans kind of lady.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family forever.

Services will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, with receiving of friends from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., followed by a celebration of life at 6:00 P.M.

Sharp Funeral Home is proud to be serving the McCarter family during this time of need.
