Mary Sherrell Jackson, 88

Mary Sherrell Jackson (née Davis), of Coalfield, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, at the age of 88.  Born on March 24th, 1937, in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, she lived a life marked by unwavering faith, devotion to family, and a deep commitment to her community.

She was the beloved wife of Jackie Allen Jackson for 72 years. Together they built a life centered around love, faith, and family.  She was a devoted mother to Terry Bear Jackson and his wife Stacey of Coalfield, Tennessee. Jana Boseley and her husband James of Rockwood, Tennessee, and Tim Jackson and his wife Teresa of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.  Her legacy continues through her three remaining children, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were touched by her warmth and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her cherished husband Jackie Allen Jackson, her son Gregory David Jackson, her daughter Connie Sue Patterson, her parents Lawrence and Vertie Davis, her sisters Helen Stacey and Emma Jean Russell, her brothers Lawrence Jack Davis, Joe Ray Davis, Boyd Allen Davis, and David Davis.

Known to all by her middle name ‘Sherrell’ her life was a testament to the values she held dear—faith, family, service, and home. She was the epitome of domestic grace and embodied the Victorian ideal of domesticity.  She was an exceptional cook and baker whose kitchen was always filled with comforting aromas of homemade meals. Her talents extended beyond the kitchen into sewing and crocheting—skills she used not only for practical needs but also to create beauty for those around her.

Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own children and grandchildren. She had a natural gift for caring for others with love and patience that left lasting impressions on countless lives.

A woman of profound faith, she practiced her beliefs daily with humility and strength. She was a dedicated member of New Life Baptist Church in Harriman, Tennessee. Prior to that, she served faithfully at Middle Creek Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, where she led the Food Committee for many years—a role that perfectly suited both her culinary gifts and servant’s heart.

Her devotion to God shaped every aspect of her life. Her spiritual strength provided comfort to those around her during times of joy as well as sorrow. She lived each day with purpose rooted in prayer and service.

Though she has departed this world, Sherrell Jackson leaves behind a legacy rich in love, faithfulness, and quiet strength. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family wishes to thank special friends and caretakers Jessica Williams, Monica Langley and Janet Bradshaw for their service to her. They also wish to give thanks to her incredibly special friend Mrs. Susie Rivers for love, care, and devotion to her.
