MARYVILLE PD RESPOND TO SHOOTING AT PROBATION OFFICE

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Maryville Police Department released more information in a shooting investigation that began Thursday morning.
An active shooter call prompted a large police response at Blount County’s adult probation office around 10 a.m., according to MPD Chief Tony Crisp.
Crisp said the caller told police that two people had been shot: a man and a woman, identified by Crisp as 39-year-old Brian Steven Yates and 43-year-old Rikki Nicole Allen.
Crisp said that Yates shot Allen then himself. He also said that the two share two children, but neither were present during the shooting.
“Several Probation officers and probationers were present at the time of the incident; however, no other injuries were reported,” Crisp said. “The victim and the offender were both shot once with the same .38 revolver, which was recovered at the scene.”
No one else was injured, Crisp said. The call prompted an hours-long response from several agencies, including MPD and the Blount County Sheriff’s Office.
