An Anderson County man facing state charges after reportedly trying to shoot two deputies earlier this year is now looking at federal charges. It includes possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession with intent to distribute meth. Authorities say 52-year-old Charles Edward Mason allegedly pointing a firearm at two deputies and pulling the trigger multiple times. Fortunately, the gun did not fire, and the deputies were not injured. Mason’s shirt got stuck between the hammer and firing mechanism and the gun did not fire. Mason previously pleaded guilty to two homicides in the past. One involved a stepfather in Knox County, Kentucky in 1994 and another stepfather in Anderson County in 2010.
