Maureen Opal Fournier died on 5/27/26 after a long illness involving Alhzeimer’s Disease. She was 87 years old and was born on 5/2/1939. Her family moved first to Detroit, MI and then Dearborn, MI. Her father was, James Madison Sunderland, and her mother was Lorraine Sunderland (Cambray).

Maureen was the eldest of five children. James Chester Sunderland, Carolyn Joyce Calico (Orville), Lynne Jean Sunderland, and Thomas Elmer Sunderland (Rebecca).

Maureen married Peter John Fournier on 6/25/1960, and they had two daughters. Kathryn Jo Hester (David) and Dr. Michelle Karen Svinte (Michael). Maureen has five grandchildren, Melanie, Samantha, Matthew, Adam and Alyssa and one great-grand daughter, Vivian. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren receiving college educations.

Maureen worked for the Dearborn Board of Education for 18 years as a secretary. She will be dearly missed by her family. In accordance with her wishes, no services are planned at this time.
