Funeral Services for Mayzell Raines, age 95, of the Thorn Gap Community of Overton County, Tennessee, will be conducted on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Pleasant Ridge Church.

Bro. Brett Gibbons and Bro. Nolan Cantrell will officiate with interment to follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Raines was born on Sunday, May 26, 1929, in Overton County, Tennessee, to the late Floyd and Cora Matheney Thompson.

Mrs. Raines passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Raines was an amazing mother, grandmother, farmer, homemaker, and quilter. She was a factory worker and retired from Russell Stover Candies. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Church since the age of 16.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Leon and Becki Raines, Hilda and James Groce, Joan and Terry Hembree, Steve and April Raines, and Kelley and Harvey McNeal

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband who she married in Cookeville, Tennessee, on June 15, 1945, Harding Raines; daughter, Donnia Kay England; sons, Phillip Raines and Donald Ray Raines, granddaughters, Leanne Raines and Alyjah Gomez; grandson, Jerry Sullivan; sister, Emogene Norrod; brothers, Bill Thompson and James Howard Thompson.

The family will receive friends at Pleasant Ridge Church on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
