Melisa “Missy” Ruth (Corn) McCollough, 61, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS.

She was born on March 9, 1964. A proud graduate of Monterey High School and Tennessee Tech, Melisa devoted her life to caring for others through her career in nursing. Throughout her career, she worked at Livingston Regional Hospital, Cookeville Regional Medical Center, and most recently at Cumberland Medical Center.

Her measure of a successful family gathering was based on how many people took a nap after eating. She believed most problems could be solved by a trip to the Monterey Dairy Queen and a good talk. She never met a stranger and was so grateful for every day. She enjoyed long walks; sitting on the porch watching the sunrise; and making chocolate gravy with her grandkids.

She was known for her compassionate spirit, strong faith, and warm personality. She wholeheartedly believed in showing her faith through helping others. Although her journey on this earth was cut short, she made a significant impact on everyone she crossed paths with.

She is survived by husband, Brad McCollough; parents William and Nelta Corn; daughter Erin Mekkaoui; stepdaughters Erin Kirouac (Jason) and Abby Prichard (Curtis); grandchildren Noah Mekkaoui, Elias Mekkaoui, Taylor Kirouac, Brooklyn Kirouac, and Evie Prichard; brother Steve Corn (Santje); and numerous life long friends and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tyler “Ducky” Crouch, and grandson, Evan Kirouac.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the numerous lifelong friends and health care workers, including those at Erlanger ALS Clinic, Adoration Home Health, and Gentiva Hospice, that supported Melisa and their family during this time.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM at The River Community Church with Pastor Alex Fisher officiating. Nurses Honors will be provided by Tennessee Nurses Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and at the River Community Church on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 9:00 AM until time of services at 10:00 AM.

Pallbearers include Bill Bilbrey, Mike Delk, Jason Kirouac, Blake McCollough, Mike McCollough, and Curtis Prichard. Honorary pallbearers include Chris “Mutt” Buckner, Burton Capps, and Alex McCollough.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Tyler’s Table Scholarship (https://www.annistonacademy.com/tylers-table). This scholarship was established in memory of her son, Tyler, to support education at Anniston Academy, a school created for students with autism and other special needs. Donations can also be made in Melisa’s honor to the Team Gleason Foundation.
