MONTEREY COUPLE ARRESTED FOR METH TRAFFICKING

Donny and Ashley Jones of Monterey were arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation for trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 9, 2021, a search warrant was executed at the Jones residence. Agents seized approximately one kilogram of methamphetamine, two firearms, and an undisclosed amount of cash. The street value of a kilogram of methamphetamine is approximately $80,000.

Donny and Ashley Jones were charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of methamphetamine over 300 grams. Both have a bond totaling $300,000.

The investigation was led by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, assisted by the Cookeville Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said, “Before COVID the price of methamphetamine was very low because the market was flooded with methamphetamine through all the popular routes such as Atlanta, Georgia. The price of all illicit drugs has started to go up due to more strict guidelines at the border and shipping routes because of COVID. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will continue to track down and investigate those in this community destroying lives and the safety of this community with drugs.”
