MULTIPLE SCHOOLS DISTRICTS IN TOWNS SURROUNDING NASHVILLE IN LOCKDOWN TODAY

Multiple school districts including Bellevue, Watertown, and Greenbriar were placed on lockdown this morning each for different reasons.

A suicide threat at Greenbriar saw the elementary, middle, and high schools locked down as the validity of the threat was looked into after a threat was texted to the 988 suicide helpline around 9 a.m. regarding Watertown Elementary School.

And Wilson County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of alarming online chatter and every school in Wilson County is locked down. Wilson County Sheriff’s Office has since confirmed all schools have been secured with no threats found, however, said the lockdown will persist with police presence for the time being.

A large police presence was seen outside of Gower Elementary in response to a threatening phone call.

Metro Nashville City Councilman Jason Spain said on Facebook: “MNPD has completed the process of sweeping the building and the perimeter and found no threat. The lockdown has been lifted so students are free to move about the building, but a lockout remains in place so no visitors will be allowed inside at this time.
Thank you to MNPD West Precinct, the School Safety Division, and Gower administration and staff for doing all they can to keep our children safe.”
