Nila Brown, 87
Nila Brown, born in Clintwood, VA on March 4, 1937 as Nila Rasnick, she returned home to her loving maker on December 15, 2024, in Knoxville TN. Nila was a retired special education teacher who brought her love of education and learning to children across Tennessee for 23 years. She married her husband, a Methodist Minister, Doug Brown in 1959. They were married for 65 years, a fact she would often tell people was a cautionary tale of being in love, prior to her passing. She loved to sew and was always making, hemming, fixing and quilting for those around her. She was an avid gardener, able to grow anything without much effort, and loved her flower gardens greatly. She had a servant’s heart and well after retiring continued to serve not only her church community but her previous ones as well. Her faith in God was her strongest conviction and she wanted everyone to be saved so she could see them again in heaven. Her source of pride was her enormous family, and she loved getting everyone together in one place.
She is survived by her husband, Doug Brown, and her three daughters; Akene Settlemeyer (Kent Settlemeyer), Nelle Daniel (Tom Daniel), and Vileta Doane (Rick Doane); Her Grandchildren Kyrie Taylor, Kaley Stouffer, Kent Settlemeyer, Cody Buckner, Alex Daniel, Aaron Daniel, Natasha Daniel, Austin Daniel, Alaina Daniel and Victoria Weir. She is also survived and loved by her eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Giles Rasnick and Franklin Rasnick; as well as her many special nieces and nephews spread across much of the southeast.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Napolean Boneparte Rasnick and Eddie Ethel Rasnick; Brothers; Howard Rasnick, Tilden Rasnick, Byron Rasnick; Sisters; Margie Anderson, Ida Bell Rasnick, Essie Stallard, Mozelle Steffey, and Theda Riemann.
