NRC NAMES NEW SENIOR INSPECTOR AT WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) officials in Atlanta have named Wesley Deschaine as the new NRC Senior Resident Inspector at the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant near Spring City.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. Resident inspectors serve as the agency’s eyes and ears at the facilities, conducting inspections, monitoring major projects, and interacting between both plant workers and the public.

Deschaine joined the NRC in 2007 as a reliability and risk analyst in the agency’s Office of New Reactors in Rockville, Maryland.

In 2009, Deschaine transferred to the Region II office in Atlanta as a project engineer for the TVA projects branch and worked as a resident inspector at TVA’s Sequoyah nuclear plant from 2011 to 2018.

Deschaine earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s of Science degree, both in electrical engineering, from the University of Central Florida.
