ONE DEAD, ONE INJURED IN JASPER, GEORGIA V.A. CLINIC SHOOTING

One is dead, and another is injured following a shooting at a veterans clinic in Jasper, Georgia.

Police Chief Matt Dawkins said officers responded to a shots-fired call at approximately 1:30 p.m. yesterday at the clinic on East Church Street in Jasper.

Jasper is in northern Georgia, about 3 hours south of Crossville.

Police confronted the suspected gunman outside the clinic. He was shot and killed by officers.

While the suspect’s identity has not been released, police confirmed he was from Jasper.

Dawkins said an employee at the VA Clinic had been shot and was airlifted to the hospital.

The victim’s name has not been released. There was no initial update on the condition.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the V.A.’s Office of Inspector General will assist with the investigation.

The clinic will remain closed for the rest of the week.
