OREGON CYCLIST BILLED BY AMBULANCE THAT RAN HIM OVER
RAINIER, Ore. (Gray News) – A cyclist in Oregon is suing an ambulance provider after he said the ambulance struck him, took him to the hospital, then billed him for the ride.
According to a report from The Oregonian, the incident happened in October 2022 in the town of Rainier, which is along the Washington-Oregon border.
William Hoesch, 71, was hit by a Columbia River Fire & Rescue ambulance while riding his bike, according to the lawsuit.
Though the ambulance was said to be traveling between 2-10 mph, Hoesch was left with a fractured nose and scrapes across his body.
The lawsuit said the ambulance then drove Hoesch to the hospital but later sent him a $1,862 bill for the ride.
Hoesch is seeking $997,000 for the cost of the ambulance ride, medical expenses, and additional pain and suffering.
Columbia River Fire & Rescue did not respond to The Oregonian’s request for comment, the outlet reported.
